Testing of the compactability

Put sand from the container on to the funnel sieve and press through until the sand in the sample specimen tube overflows

Carefully lift off the funnel sieve strip off the surplus sand core with a sharp edged straight metal plate

Put sample specimen tube together with base between the pair of pistons of the Compactability Testing Apparatus Type PVG

Move the pump lever vertically for so long until the dial of the gauge reaches 200 kg

Read off, on the level with the sample specimen tube, the percentage reduction in volume of the sand

Firmly press the pump lever downwards

Remove the sample specimen tube
